2-1-1 Texas is a simple, easy to remember three-digit dialing code providing access to a professional staff available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, assisting you and your neighbors in gaining access to public, private and non-profit health and human services providers not just in your community, but throughout the state of Texas.
In the Middle Rio Grande region, the 2-1-1 Texas calls are processed through the Middle Rio Grande Development Council's Area Agency on Aging staff. These dedicated individuals have spent hundreds of hours processing calls from inside and outside the region, particularly during the chaos created by hurricane's Katrina and Rita. Tens of thousands of calls came into the center by people not sure of who to contact for help or where to go. The staff handled those calls professionaly and courteously, helping those callers get to the right place to receive shelter and comfort.
